Earlier this week I posted about my iron deficiency... but in case you didn't read it, I will catch you up. I have super low iron levels ( its at 10 and its suppose to be over 100). I just happened to be getting some tests done and one was iron... and boy am I glad I got my iron levels tested. When you have low iron levels like me, you are always tired, you are lethargic, you cant think or function properly, you get depressed, you have a hard time breathing...and you can't lose weight!
I have been working my butt off for almost a year and havn't lost a single pound! And this low iron nonsence just may be why! So, for todays Workout Wednesday, I suggest you go get your iron levels tested, especially if your female and a vegetarian.
I now have to take lucky iron supplements and try my hardest to incorporate as many vegetarian iron rich foods into my diet such as:
kale, spinach, broccoli, peas, collards, kidney beans, beets, dates, barley, prunes, lentils, chickpeas, and well, meat, if you eat it.
Also, I wanted to tell you how my friend and I use the stairs in our workouts. We are lucky to live by a river valley which has plenty of staircases leading down in to it. We run the stairs at least 10 times throughout of workout. This gets our heart rates up, up, up!
Here are some of the ways we run up the stairs and some other exercises we do on the stairs:
- Hop up the stairs, with both feet at the same time. This is actually quit hard and will get your heart rate up
- Hop on one foot up ten stairs, switch feet and hop on the other foot up ten stairs, repear until you reach the top
- Running sideways up the stairs. Face the rail of the stairs, and go up sideways, making sure to keep your hips directed at the railing. As you get tired your hips will want to pull forward. Now, face the other side of the stairs and do it again.
- Our stairs have a landing about 1/4 of the way up. We use the railings here to do push ups, and tricep dips. If you don't have a landing, you can do push ups off the stairs, or the railing going up the stairs.
I am going to get my iron levels checked, I am a non-red meat eater and it is super hard for me to loose weight. I would love to have a fix for the lack of weight loss.
ReplyDeleteGald you found what wad causing the problems.
What a great way to use what is around you to get your workout done-no fancy gym required!!
